Hey everyone, I’m McKenna Little! I am 19 years old and from North Platte, Nebraska. I’ve lived in the midwest my whole life and let me tell you there’s not much to see here, so I really enjoy traveling and exploring new places. I’ve played many different sports my whole life and I have a big love for health and fitness. One of my biggest passions is teaching children. I am currently in my first year of college, working towards my degree in early childhood education. I’ve taught several Sunday school classes for the past 8 years, so I am definitely looking forward to working with children overseas while on the gap year!
One of the most important things to me is my family. I am the youngest of five and when I say youngest… I mean I am the baby! All my siblings are in their 30’s and 40’s so I’ve gotten a good mix of knowing what it’s like having siblings and also being an only child since they have been out of the house most of my life.
So why the World Race? A couple years ago I went on my first mission trip to Miami, Florida and it completely changed my life. While on the trip, God revealed a happiness to me that I had never felt before. Going into the trip, I thought I would be helping others, but God used the people I met and the wonderful children I got to teach to reveal his purpose for me. When I returned home from the trip, I was filled with excitement because I knew God was calling me in that direction and He had something great planned for me in the future. During my senior year of high school, I still didn’t know what that plan was. A close mentor of mine suggested a different gap year program, but after a lot of prayer, God was telling me to be patient and wait. So I went the normal route and and started college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. At the beginning of the year I started exploring other gap year programs and came across World Race. I knew right away this is where God wants me to be! I can’t even begin to explain the excitement I have to be able to continue serving others and help grow Gods kingdom this coming fall on the Outreach Route to Costa Rica, Romania, Eswatini, and South Africa!
